WILDFIRE FESTIVAL IS A DELIGHT
A lot of us rockers will have made our way up the mountain to the brilliant Steelhouse festival in
South Wales; some campers, cars and legs may be a bit daunted by the steep climb to the top, but
it’s well worth it when you get there.
Maybe not so many rockers have made their way up the mountain in Scotland to experience an
equally impressive three day festival called Wildfire. Wanlockhead is the highest village in Scotland
so its unlikely you’ll get a gig at greater altitude. But you know what?? The climb starts in Carlisle so
there’s no fear for those old campers, knackered cars and weary legs!! You’ll have done the hard
part before you know it.
Wildfire has been going for a number of years now and is masterminded by the very knowledgeable
Dave Lee Ritchie assisted by an enthusiastic team of capable bodies who work hard to bring 20 plus
bands and a great deal more fans to this magnificent place. The scenery is stunning, the music
always spot on, the Wanlockhead Inn, where the event is held, hospitable and welcoming, what
more could you want??
Dave has a knack of picking bands that you won’t necessarily see at every other festival, his ear for a
good tune and great entertainers allowing for a more diverse set of bands.
Held at the end of June there’s a good chance you’ll get some great weather too, but there’s a good
chance you won’t either. The bands all play under cover so the only time you might get wet is on the
run to the bar, nae bother!!
This is a necessary festival to go to if you love a deep dive into all the up and coming new bands on
the modern rock scene. Everyone loves being here, bands and fans alike all want to return, it’s that
good. Tickets for next years festival are on sale now so I suggest you get your rucksack out, get
booked up and have the time of your life.
