T REX AND NINE INCH NAILS INDUCTED IN RARHOF DESPITE NOT MAKING FAN VOTE
The official Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame announcement came at 1pm this afternoon and it was a little surprising to say the least.
Over the past few months there has been so much publicity around the so called fan vote. This was a chance for the fans to have their say and support their favourite bands and in the past few years, the fan vote has been a pretty clear indication of who was in the running. But not so this year. Only one of the five bands in the fan vote shortlist made the 2020 class.
The 2020 inductees in the Performer category are Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., T. Rex and in the Ahmet Ertegun Award to both Jon Landau and Irving Azoff.
It is worth noting that in the fan vote The Notorious B.I.G came in 13th, with
just 275,892 votes, T. Rex were just ahead in 12th place with 365,290 votes and Nine Inch Nail scored 380,869 and came in 11th. A little different to the Dave Matthews band who racked up over 1 million fan votes. Even when you look at the number of votes Soundgarden and Judas Priest received, it is still considerably higher than those inducted.
Congratulations to the class of 2020. The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Induction ceremony will take place in Cleveland on the 2nd May, 2020. Watch below the official announcement:
