Stoakes’ Song of the Week
Stoakes’ Song of the Week so far has been all about classic rock. All about those bands and songs from decades ago that we all know and love. But, there are new bands coming out all the time so, I thought for the entirety of August, we will focus on everything new. Bands from this generation. Bands that have come out and taken the scene by storm in the last ten years or so…
And what better way to start, but with this guy. Kris Barras. Voted one of the top blues guitarists in the world, the Kris Barras Band have been propelled into the spotlight on the strength of their fantastic debut album ‘Lucky 13’ and the follow up album ‘The Divine and Dirty’. The Divine and Dirty went straight to number one in both the Amazon Bestseller’s and the iTunes Blues Charts and the album also reached number 3 in the Official UK Blues charts.
Talking of the ‘Devine and Dirty’, our song this week is one of the highlights of the album. ‘Lovers and Losers’.
Lovers and Losers is one of Kris Barras’ favourite tracks off the album. It really does showcase the dirtier side of the album with the slide guitar and southern rock sound really adding that extra grit. The music video were filmed with one of Kris’ training partners – Kris used to be a MMA fighter and had huge success in both Thailand and Vegas, but fear not, the fight scenes in the video were all choreographed – no chances of a surprise knockout!
Not one to rest on their laurels, after the incredible release of the ‘Divine and Dirty’ last year, the Kris Barras Band have announced a new album, due for release in September and an accompanying tour. These are a band I simply HAVE to see live.
