Debris and Rubble
Swedish rock band, Heavy Feather release their debut album, ‘Debris and Rubble’. Taking us right back to the sounds of Cream, Led Zeppelin and Free, this is a nostaligic album for fans of classic rock, young and old.
The album kicks off with the title track, an instrumental that really gets you in the mood. It’s got a lovely blues riff running through it with close knit vocal harmonies giving you that classic seventies feel, that sets the tone for the rest of the album.
The song ‘Waited All My Life’ is a groove led song, with a Rolling Stones feel to it. Rhythmic drive is a stand out feature on this song, in fact the entire album is very rhythm led.
‘Tell me your Tale’ feels somewhat more soulful than the rest of the album. A moving ballad, that has a really slow build up with smouldering vocal melodies and an arpeggio guitar. The song brings you to a climax and leaves you gagging for more.
‘I spend my money wrong’ has a great vocal line. It almost feels Zeppelinesque, with the guitar breaks and vocals coming in between the guitar. It has a great feel and I particularly enjoyed the call and response with the harmonica and guitar.
What an great debut album from Heavy Feather. It feels so fresh while still keeping that classic rock sound. This is what happens when remarkable musicians get together. I can’t wait to hear more!
