DANNY’S TRIBUTE TO FOO FIGHTERS DRUMMER TAYLOR HAWKINS

The rock world was shocked and saddened last Friday night to hear of the untimely passing of Taylor Hawkins. Long time drummer of the Foo Fighters, Taylor passed away on 25th March 2022 a month after his 50th birthday.

The news hit Danny particularly hard as like many, he has grown up with The Foo Fighters and in a dedication to Taylor on his radio show on Radio TFSC on Saturday night, he called Taylor Hawkins “the greatest drummer of my generation”.

Deeply moved by the loss and seeing the various tributes across the internet from fans across the world, Danny wanted to create his own musical tribute to Taylor.

He often tells the story that, it was whilst watching the Foo Fighters at Leeds Festival perform ‘Wheels’ that spawned the idea of a mashup between ‘Wheels’ and ‘Learning to Fly’ which went on to feature on the charity album The Isolation Sessions that Danny released in 2020. So, it seemed fitting to record an acoustic version of Wheels in Tribute to Taylor.

The video features pictures from various Foo Fighters gigs and some video of Taylor performing from his 25 year career in the band.

Rest Well Taylor. That great gig in the Sky has just got a little louder!
