SCOTTISH BLUES ROCKERS, CHASIN’ THE TRAIN, ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF DEBUT ALBUM

Chasin’ the Train’s debut album, ‘Dead Man’s Handle’ will be released worldwide on Friday 3rd April 2020 on iTunes, Amazon and all major online music platforms in digital format only, as well as streaming sites such as Spotify. It will also be available as a deluxe digipak CD, which comes with two bonus tracks and a 12-page booklet.

Back in April 2018 they released a two-track digital single which garnered excellent reviews, as well as having a song featured on the prestigious Jock’s Juke Joint Volume 4 Scottish blues compilation CD in November 2018. Watch ‘Beat up Ford’ below:

This album is the distillation of the talents of all the band members. Although it’s firmly rooted in the blues, elements of classic rock, jazz, punk, folk and – whisper it – prog make their presence felt. Energetic and intriguing, melodic, moody and diverse. The songs have been road-tested live, with regular gigging enabling the band to perfect their sound and build a strong reputation on the live circuit, as well as the respect of their fellow musicians. ‘ … their live shows are incredible …they tear it up everywhere they go.’ Reverend Jim (Hidden Gems Show, East End Community Radio)

‘Dead Man’s Handle’ can be viewed as a snapshot of a band confident of their abilities. They say the only problem they had was choosing which songs to put on the album, and as a result they now have their eye on a second release.

The five members of Chasin’ the Train have been involved in playing a wide variety of musical styles in different bands over their long careers, but have been working together since early 2014, and are united by their love of out-of-the-ordinary blues tunes. Although they started out playing cover versions of existing songs, it soon became apparent that the band had so much more to give, and that manifested itself in the writing of original material.

Press Reaction to Date

“Heavily influenced by the great American blues rockers, there’s some nicely honed sounds … real soul … great driving rhythm throughout … “ Digital Single Review (Bruce McKenzie – D&G Life Magazine, July 2018 edition)

“The first half of this double-sided single, (Whisky Bottle), serves as a proper introduction to the Dumfries blues rock group, led by a jumping rhythm, mighty sweet harmonicas and a solid chorus.” Small Music Scene – The Small Playlist Week #1 (24th October 2018)

“Temporary Man … starts with a true acoustic slide blues introduction before exploding into a harp-driven, rocker that is huge fun with the slide and harp complimenting each other all the way through and the solos are good.” Tom Dixon – bluesdoodles.com (13th February 2019 – as part of the Jock’s Juke Joint Vol.4 CD review)
