Stoakes Song of the Week

After a great month of Horror themed rock songs the finale has to be something special. We’ve had Black Sabbath’s ‘Black Sabbath, Rob Zombie’s ‘Dragula’, Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rhiannon’, but no list like this would be complete without Mr. Shock Rock himself, Alice Cooper.

But which song though? That is the all important question… There are too many to choose, right? Well, you might think that, but there is frankly just one, in my opinion… one song trumps all of his his others… This little beauty:

Feed My Frankenstein of course! What a song, taken from Alice Coopers 1991 album ‘Hey Stoopid’. The album was Alice’s 19th and the song peaked at number 27 on the UK singles chart. Interestingly, The song was co-written with Mark Manning, whose band, Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction, recorded the original version in their 1991 album Hoodlum Thunder.

The song was featured in the 1992 film Wayne’s World, in which Cooper performs the song at a concert, and was featured on the film’s soundtrack.

The album had a whole host of guests, with Nikki Sixx,
Joe Satriani, Steve Vai all appearing on this track. The rest of the album was much the same, with Alice Copper enticing all of rocks heavyweights, from Ozzy Osbourne to Slash and even UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore features on a track or two.

What a testament to the Shock Rock King! And now, all thats left to say is…. Happy Halloween, and Welcome to My Nightmare!!!
