JOHN COGHLAN’S QUO RELEASE DOUBLE A SIDE SINGLE

John Coghlan is Status Quo’s original drummer. The man behind the kit on countless Quo classics such as Whatever You Want, Caroline and Rocking All Over The World and now, forty years after he parted ways with the Quo, John and his band, John Coghlan’s Quo, is releasing new music that is currently doing rather well in the UK charts.

There are currently two offerings, the thundering, riff-heavy, word-of-mouth hit “Lockdown” which has already notched up over 150,000 video views and topped Classic Rock magazine’s prestigious “Tracks of the Week” poll. Lockdown is paired with “No Return“, the brand new driving single once again recalling the authentic, no-nonsense rocking sound of mid-70s Quo.

Check out the video to the latest offering ‘No Return’ below:

John’s loyal fans are incredibly excited and are all saying that this sounds ‘more Quo than Quo’ with enthusiastic endorsements from fellow ex-Status
Quo band-members Bob Young and Alan Lancaster. It is agreed by many that this line up of John Coghlan’s Quo: Pete Mace, Mick Hughes and Rick Chase and of course, John himself, are the real deal. JCQ have captured the very essence of the Quo sound as it should be. Not only in their renditions of the well loved Status Quo songs, but also in their own new material which fans are desperate to hear live once this pandemic is over.

Not to be mistaken for a tribute band, JCQ’s performances are a nod to the “real Quo sound” which genuine fans acknowledge and appreciate especially as John always mentions the much loved and missed Rick Parfitt.

The video above, that they made for Lockdown was cleverly done with individual phone footage that was expertly sewn together by Rick Chase and it totally captured the feel of the time but with a lighthearted and much needed perspective. It delighted their fans and many said it kept them going through the first Lockdown which we all found so strange and difficult. The next song “No Return” delivers just as well and now the fans really have something to look forward to. The band are tight and as together as ever and can’t wait to get back on the road.
